Offsite Backup
Solutions Home
Traditional tape
backup schemes can be hit-or-miss propositions. Backup quality depends on
local staff and equipment. Information that is crucial to daily operations,
as well as legal compliance, may go unprotected.
Now there’s a better solution. Check out our online demos:
Our SPS Remote
Backup Program offers:
Enterprise Level Capabilities
- Our offsite
backup solution supports Windows, Netware, Linux, Unix, and AS400.
Additionally SPS Remote Backup supports API for Microsoft SQL, Microsoft
Exchange, MySQL, PostgreSQL, Oracle, and DB2. This enables you to backup
your applications without having to shut down services or applications
and still ensure a consistent backup. It is a disk-to-disk solution that
eliminates the need for fragile and troublesome tape hardware. SPS Remote
Backup automatically transports your data to an offsite location at the
time of backup, which eliminates the cost associated with shipping tapes
offsite. This method ensures that the data is offsite immediately after a
backup instead of having to wait until the next day for the data to be
moved offsite. This gives you disaster recovery functionality upfront
with no additional hardware or software costs.
Encryption - SPS Remote Backup uses military grade
encryption algorithms to encrypt your data for the lifetime of the data
that has been backed up. This ensures that only you can restore and
decrypt your data. Additionally, the software allows you to choose the
type of encryption to use – from AES, DES128, DES192, or DES256.
CDP - You have the option to create a Continuous
Data Protection (CDP) backup. This type of backup will back a file up as
soon as a change has been committed to disk. CDP allows you to be able to
recover data up to the second, rather than only being able to recover to
the night before. This helps ensure that you have all of the latest data
in the event of a disaster.
Incremental Forever - SPS Remote Backup is an “incremental
forever” solution. The first backup is a full copy of the data that you
have selected. Once the first full backup has been completed, every
backup from that point is an incremental only. Unlike most other backup
applications, all of our incrementals use in-file-delta technology
processing to decrease the time it takes to complete a backup. This means
that when a file changes, instead of backing up the entire file, we only
backup the small blocks that have changed. This technology greatly
decreases the amount of data that is transferred across the internet.
This decreases the time that it takes to complete a backup. Even though
we are doing incrementals, you have access to the full “changed” file at
the offsite location.
Lower Cost - The SPS Remote Backup Solution does not
require the large upfront cost which is normally associated with
implementing a new backup solution. Typically the software can be
installed on an existing server. We do not require the typical expensive
per server licensing; nor do we charge a license fee for software
functionality as is common with most other backup application vendors.
This is also true for application support (such as Microsoft SQL and
Exchange). In addition, we charge on a monthly basis so that you can set
a budget.
Mobile User Protection - SPS Remote Backup allows you to install a
“trimmed down” version of the software onto laptops to ensure that the
data for those mobile users is adequately protected. In most environments,
laptop users have to leave their laptops at work to get them backed up.
This truly defeats the intended purpose of a laptop. To address this
troublesome issue, we have developed a version of our software designed
specifically for laptops. There is no additional cost associated with
this feature, which makes protecting potentially valuable laptop data
cost effective and efficient. Whether the user is at home, or at a
tradeshow in Hawaii, as long as they have an internet connection, we can
backup the data.
Other benefits and features:
- Accountability
- Archiving
- Local copy of backups
- Agentless architecture
- Disk-to-disk technology
